The H.I.T. List is comprised of general UI design issues discovered during the usability evaluation. Reference links will bring you to the specific instances of the issue.
Users will follow the path of least resistance. Let the proper workflow be the easiest and most efficient. In some circumstances in the current UI, the users needed to complete too many steps before performing simple actions (example, to edit PLC code). In these instances, users spent a lot of time trying to find faster ways of accomplishing the same task - ignoring security rules. Reference 1
Give users feedback on the state of the system. Users were again confused by top navigation bar. They are not taking the time to read the title bar, they expect a tab like cue or a complete button down effect to signal an active category. Reference 1
Don't mix metaphors. The current design of the search function is a configuration dialogue / wizard hybrid. Although this is a great idea, it does not seem to work with users. Users do not understand that they need to move through each tabbed section to set up a search. This is due mostly to the fact that this is a non-standard use of tabs. The nature of this task suggests a wizard. Reference 1
Any report is felt to be a reflection on its author. In this product, users want the ability to shape the basic layout of the report content, for example; sizing and ordering columns. Reference 1
